Good evening lovelies,
One of the main things when it comes to cosplay can be some of the crazy types of shoes our favorite characters wear. So here's is a basic cosplay shoe cover tutorial to use in your next cosplay project! *Sami-chan Hey lovelies, here's a link to the this DIY project http://doityourselfproject.tumblr.com/post/115106490437/costume-wolf-tail-tutorial
The pic above is from the link and all credit to this creation is to the creator of this awesome quick and easy DIY wolf tail. If you have a con coming up and are looking for a really quick and easy way to join the cosplay crowd this is the perfect last minute cosplay piece that's easy to make. The only complaint is your only instructions are the image above, there are no written instructions, but it's a project I am looking forward to trying out in the future. Again all credit to the person who came up with this idea! Let me know if you try this DIY out yourself! *Sami-chan Hey guys, If you need thigh high boots for a cosplay but can't spend the money, check out this diy vid. This has gotten me super excited for my next cosplay since I need 1 thigh high and 1 not. There are so many cosplays with gorgeous details and patterns that you can’t buy anywhere. This cosplayer gives some great tips about supplies and ways to add these beautiful details on your own. She has a lot of beautiful images to help show the different effects that a person can create for their cosplay costume with patience and the right tools. I highly recommend checking out this page if you’re looking to add some flare or unique designs to your cosplay!
http://pixiekitty.net/tutorialfabriccoloreffects.html *Sami-chan Another one of things I had a challenge with when it came to my Kyoko Sakura cosplay was the boots! There are a lot of people that don’t have this issue, but I’m an individual who 1. Has big feet and wide calves and has a heck of a time finding my size. 2. Never has been a shoe fanatic so my shoe collection is well… considerably lacking. 3. Extremely poor- after all I’m working two part times jobs and still can’t afford an apartment lol. So taking all of these things into consideration I took on the project of making my own boots, using felt fabric, a pair of cheap shoes I found at Walmart, hot glue, and lots of patience with hand sewing all the seams and adding my own little clips to make them easier to get on and off. On the whole I think I spent $20 bucks on the whole project because I got the felt material on sale at Joannes and just used your general water protection spray for shoes and it went without a hitch.
In order to do all of this though, I need a pattern or at least some kind of reference and Pixie came across the site and it was extremely helpful in helping me get the basic idea down for figuring out how to put them together. http://www.sarcasm-hime.net/bootcovers-tutorial.html . (Be sure to snoop around this site it has some amazing tips on what to avoid as a beginning cosplayer and how to make other things that may be essential to your cosplay!) Thanks to this page and some ideas from this youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L04l0iD6Uvc I was finally able to put together my boots which you can see the final product on my deviant art page- I think I’ve shared them here before. http://draconpens.deviantart.com/art/Cosplay-boots-471789558 - Not bad for a first attempt right? This is what worked best for me, but I’d love to hear if you have any tips or tricks of your own! *Sami-chan Another project I took on for Detour this last year was making my own sweater for my Kyoko Sakura cosplay because for the life of me I couldn’t find a sweater that was the right color and in my size (I’m extremely picky and have a difficult body shape lol). So taking a deep breath I took on the new challenge of making my first hooded sweat shirt and learning to use our “new” old sewing machine. The first attempt I’ll confess didn’t turn out and it basically got remade into a bathrobe for my little sister, but the second time I was able to finally get one put together. This is a great step by step tutorial on how to make your own hooded sweatshirt. It was extremely helpful and easy to follow even a beginner like myself can make an acceptable top. http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=177602.0#axzz3C7WddZ00
*Sami-chan So have you ever been trying to sew together a cosplay outfit and constantly having to stop and try it on to see if it fits and even when you think you have it all together it just doesn’t fit “perfectly”? I haven’t had the opportunity to do this yet, but here is a way to make your own sewing mannequin to fit you perfectly! This is something I’m really looking forward to trying out for myself when I get the chance too because I struggled so many times making my sweater for my Kyoko Sakura cosplay last year- which happened to be the first time I ever sewed any kind of clothes in my life! Once I get a chance to make one I’ll be sure to share a picture, but check it out for yourself and let us know what you think!
