Hey everyone,
I almost forgot to post again ugh. Anime Detour in only 2 weeks away and I still have lots to do so I'm in the middle of con crunch right now so I really haven't had time to watch anything or read. I figured I might as well bring you one of my favorite japanese dishes so far, Tonkatsu or Japanese pork cutlet. Its super easy to make but so good. I will say I attempted to make my own sauce instead of buying it, which was a mistake. For one thing there were a million recipes for it, and every one was completely different. Since I've never tasted it before I couldn't even begin to guess which one would be the closest recipe to what I want. So instead of being smart and going out and buying the sauce I just randomly picked a recipe. It tasted like ketchup. And yes there was ketchup in it, but there was other ingredients too, but all I could taste was the ketchup. I will confess, I'm not a ketchup fan. So I didn't use the sauce. But the wierd thing about me is I like plain rice, and I love panko bread crumbs so not having a sauce was totally ok with me. Next time I make it I will for sure buy the sauce though, cuz I sure the real thing is much better than ketchup.
So now that I have ranted on about sauce, Here is the recipe:
Tonkatsu
INGREDIENTS:
DIRECTIONS:
I got the recipe here http://damndelicious.net/2013/04/07/tonkatsu-japanese-pork-cutlet-sundaysupper/
I have a giveaway coming up so keep an eye out for that. It should be up in the next couple days. I hope you give this recipe a try. Let me know if you do and what you think. Enjoy!

So now that I have ranted on about sauce, Here is the recipe:
Tonkatsu
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 cup corn oil
- 1 pound boneless pork chops
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 large egg, beaten
- 1 cup Panko* bread crumbs
- Cooked rice, for serving
- Tonkatsu sauce, for serving
DIRECTIONS:
- Heat corn oil in a large skillet over medium high heat.
- Season pork chops with salt and pepper, to taste. Working one at a time, dredge pork chops in flour, dip into egg, then dredge in Panko crumbs, pressing to coat.
- Working in batches, add pork chops to the skillet, 2 or 3 at a time, and cook until evenly golden and crispy, about 3-4 minutes on each side. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.
- Serve immediately with rice and tonkatsu sauce, if desired.
